About this cause
The Library of Innerpeffray was Scotland's first lending library and is now a museum. We tell the story of the people from the local community who borrowed books and share the collection the Library has gathered over the years in regular exhibitions and events. We are open for guided tours from March to October and run concerts, talks, open days and other events all year round. We have visitors from across the world as well as the surrounding area and have a team of local volunteers helping us to show visitors our many books and tell our history. Our main objective is to ensure that the Library and its story is available to everyone now and for the future.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project brings together our heritage organisation with the local landowners, schools and community groups as well as visitors to the area. We will have opportunities for young people to learn rural skills and events that make use of the outdoor and indoor spaces. The trail will be a place for families to visit and enjoy Innerpeffray for many years to come.
