About this cause

Access to Industry’s is voluntary organisation who work with unemployed adults in Edinburgh whose challenge in getting a job is compounded by their previous experience of misusing substances; offending; or because they are homeless. We work with young people who are at risk of misusing substances or offending and work with them to move them into training and/or employment. We provide 1-1 support and a range of in-house training opportunities around core & vocational skills and wellbeing. This support, along with time, gives individuals the confidence, belief in their own abilities, and skills to move into employment. Our organisational objectives centre on relieving the disadvantaged circumstances of individuals through development of education, training programmes & employment.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The CommonHealth Games would be open to all our clients and participants in the Games would be assigned to a team, with team as well as individual activity on offer. We would also open up the activity of the Games to other local organisations working with vulnerable groups. We would in effect use the Games to encourage others to find out more about us and then access our employability services.
