We want to provide food and fun activities for families to help tackle "Holiday Hunger", food poverty and inequalities.
About this cause
Family support charity working with families with children pre-birth to 11 years. Home-Start reaches out to parents with children through positive support and friendship. We help families to increase their confidence and independence, improve health and wellbeing whilst helping them to build better lives and futures. Helping build resilience in families to enable them to cope with everyday life. Providing 1:1 volunteer led home visiting support, family support groups, small group sessions around baby sensory, critical learning and school readiness and school holiday sessions to provide activities and help combat "holiday hunger." Our trained volunteers, supervised by paid staff, work with families and many gain the confidence and experience to move into education, training or employment.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Providing the opportunity to socialise for adults and children, breaking down barriers and building friendships. Enabling people to engage in and enjoy the activities and build skills. Provide food in the school holidays ensuring people are fed. Invite local community groups along to show what services are on offer and encourage engagement for future sustainability and building confidence.
