Young Persons Advisory Service
Young People
We want to buy a minibus to offer fun day trips in new surroundings to children and young people coping with mental health issues.
About this cause
YPAS provides a wide range of counselling, advice and support services to children (5-15yrs) and young people (16-25yrs) and families to address their mental health and emotional well-being difficulties. We do this through Individual therapy, family therapy , anger awareness (13-18yrs), self injury (13-18yrs), Information Advice & Guidance, GP Champs, drop services and through the provision of specialist LBGT groups such as GYRO (Gay Youth Are Out) and The Action Youth. As well as partnership work in schools across the City. We also have open access youth groups throughout the week, Smartys for primary school children, THRIVE for secondary, SKY for school leavers. All activities are based on 5 ways of wellbeing, 'Be Active, Connect, Keep Learning, Take Notice & Give'.
How this cause brings people in the community together
YPAS Community Hub in South Liverpool has worked hard since opening 3/01/2017 to bring people together in the local area. Linking in with local agencies, schools & community groups ensuring that locally people know what services we offer. Over 100 CYP have attended our free youth groups. They make friends, learn new skills and have a safe space to talk supported by trained staff if they need it.
