About this cause
Manchester Cares is a new community network of young professionals and older neighbours hanging out and helping one another in our rapidly changing city. Through four programmes we tackle loneliness and isolation within two of the most affected demographics - people aged 65 and 21-35. Through our Social Clubs, Love Your Neighbour, Outreach and Community Fundraising we bring neighbours together to share laughter and create lasting friendships. Our target outcomes are to - Reduce loneliness and isolation amongst older people and young professionals - Improve neighbours' well-being, confidence, connection and self-worth so that people can feel part of our changing city. Bring people together to bridge the gaps across social, generational, cultural, digital and attitudinal divides.
How this cause brings people in the community together
By bringing older neighbours – with plenty of roots in their community but few connections – together with young professionals with plenty of connections but few roots, we will increase the confidence, skills and happiness of all involved. The result is an inclusive community where everyone can learn and grow. This results in genuine friendship, helping all to feel valued, vibrant and visible.
