Killin & District Sports & Leisure Club
Community Development
We want to reconfigure the current pavilion layout and add a small extension for a self-contained gym/multi-use area.
About this cause
The club, consisting of AstroTurf, bowling green, putting green and pavilion have played an important part in village life since 1992. Our overall aim is to provide a usable sports & leisure facility for the whole community, from preschool to the elderly, with a focus on providing sporting opportunities for children and young people. Currently the facilities are used on a regular basis by a variety of clubs and organisations such as the tiddlers & toddlers group, soft play group, ladies netball, local Nursery and Heartland Vets. We also host Play events and activity camps run by Stirling Council and Active Stirling. We feel these all help address a real issue with rural isolation and the inaccessibility of services within the local community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We feel that the club has the potential to be a real hub of village life. Killin does suffer with rural isolation and the inaccessibility of services for many, in particular younger children and young people. Through enhanced facilities we feel that we can address a real issue, and at the same time help to improve social isolation by bringing individuals and groups together.
