We want funding to improve the facilities of our local park, for the benefit of children and adults alike.
About this cause
Friends of Conway Park has been set up to raise the funds needed to improve the children's play area on the local park. We also aim to improve general public access to the park by extending and upgrading the existing footpath and by improving the drainage of the grassed area. In addition we wish to provide better public access through the adjoining wooded area which adjoins the park, whilst at the same time opening up opportunities for people to appreciate and enjoy the wildlife in this less formal part of the park. We believe our efforts will provide better play facilities for local children, encourage more people to make use of the park as a recreational area (thus improving health and well-being in our area) and help people discover and enjoy the wildlife which is on their doorstep.
How this cause brings people in the community together
By improving the park's facilities we are encouraging more people (children, families, dog-walkers, footballers) to make better use of this community resource. Each group is learning that the park is for everyone, not just for them, and that it is a shared facility which everyone can enjoy together. We have already seen our community come together as a result of our successful fund-raising events.
