Sporting Challenge
Health
We want to help our disability group members to take part in sports sessions, and take them on a short break to an 'Outward Bound' centre.
About this cause
The registered charity was set up in 2008 by a group of parent carers to provide sporting activities for around 60 people with learning disabilities to keep them fit and healthy. The activities take place across West Lancashire during the evening and sometimes at weekends. We provide sessional staff who collect the adults, support them at the activity, then take them home. Parents/Carers get a break during the night from their caring duties. Sessions include ten pin bowling, boccia, swimming. aerobics, keep fit, pool, swimming and much more.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We work with local sports session provider, local venues and parents/carers to provide the full range of sessions we run. Our organisation has the support of our local community. We work with local partnership organisations to deliver our range of activities, we support a wide range of locations by holding our sessions there, we use community halls, leisure centres and church halls.
