About this cause

Nantwich Museum is a community organisation which tells the stories of the town's past. It exhibits artefacts of local significance and holds a changing programme of exhibitions throughout the year, which are often by local organisations or individuals. This includes art groups, schools and other local interest groups. Our rooms are available to hire and we run an education service as well as running informal learning activities throughout the year. We also run a Dementia Friendship Group which is open to anyone living with dementia within the locality to come along to. Our organisation depends on the support of volunteers and in return we offer a variety of opportunities including work experience for people to get involved in. Our key objectives are to preserve, inspire and educate.

How this cause brings people in the community together

It brings together people who may be feeling isolated and/or want to meet in a supportive and friendly environment. The group is free and open to all living with dementia and their partner etc.It promotes co-operation by looking beyond the dementia and encouraging participants to share skills and interests (reflected in the varied activities). Local external trips increase dementia awareness.
