About this cause

ENABLE Glasgow is a small grass roots, community focused charity working with adults with learning disability and their parents and carers in Glasgow. We aim to work with people to empower them to live life to the full through the provision of high quality, responsive and participatory services. We are a membership organisation, looking to provide the services people tell us they want and need. Through supported living, social enterprise and a vibrant social programme, we aim to give people with learning disability a voice in their local communities and show the real contribution people can make, both socially and economically within the communities in which they live and work. Our Balshagray project is a much needed 24/7 supported living project for young people with learning disability.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We plan to use our gym space as a stepping stone for people to get involved in local community sports and to utilise local leisure services. It will also enable young people to continue with their fitness regime when other barriers such as health issues make using community gym facilities more difficult. We plan to work with local volunteers to facilitate sports instruction and personal training.
