Root-and-Branch Out CIC
Young People
We want to ensure all primary aged children have access to a healthy, free breakfast at our surplus food cafe in Uppingham.
About this cause
We aim to nurture community through nature. We work in different community projects offering Forest School, Allotment/food growing projects, and a surplus food café. We are working with preschools, schools, adults social care provision and the wider community. We engage communities in projects around food and the outdoors, nature and the environment, which supports wellbeing, life skills, self esteem, resilience, and relationship building. Objectives 1. To strengthen community and capacity for positive change. 2. Projects take a holistic approach and encourage critical thinking about sustainability. 3. Sharing knowledge, skills, time and space to grow our community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We run a surplus food breakfast cafe in one of our town primary schools. We wish to extend this to establish a similar cafe for the wider community. All primary age children in Uppingham and their families will then have access to a free breakfast. Also, to host a monthly tea time event to build connections between the children and families from different schools and organisations.
