We want to maintain the Wealden Works project, a free employability programme for local young people not in work, training or education.
About this cause
Originated as steering group in 1995, evolved into Company Ltd by guarantee and Charity. Current projects are: • Running Wealden Works project. • Business support. • Create a new indoor swimming pool and improved leisure facilities at Community College. • Holding monthly Farmers Market. • Continually updating and upgrading www.heathfield.net. • Supporting our own Police Force in serving our community and to look at priority issues. • Running Facebook and Twitter pages. Works with officers and appointed representatives of East Sussex County Council, Wealden District Council, Parish Council, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Street Pastors, Churches Together, Community College, Age Concern Heathfield and District and Sussex Police Team.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Success of attendees sets a positive example as they become role models to their peer groups. The group regularly assist at community events and projects showing willingness to be actively involved in the community. Businesses are employing young people for local jobs and meeting their community social responsibility commitments.
