About this cause

We exist to help lost, injured or distressed persons in and around the North York Moors. We also spend time in the local community educating people to be safe in the hills and what to do if something goes wrong. We are 100% funded from fundraising, donations and sponsorship. Our objectives are to relieve suffering and distress amongst persons affected by accidents or natural hazards on the North York Moors and beyond if requested. The team will provide secure and efficient search and rescue of any person in difficulty in co-operation with the Police, other emergency services and mountain rescue teams. They will train volunteer team members in the skills of search and rescue, survival, casualty care and other techniques.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We are a community-based organisation, run by volunteers from the community, providing services for our community. We spend time educating people to be safe in the hills, and include team vehicle demonstrations. We take an active interest in local community events, providing talks for organisations such as WI, training for the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and support youth groups, such as the Scouts.
