About this cause

Nova Children's Project aims to improve the quality of life of children and young people (CYP) with moderate to severe learning disabilities by providing holidays and weekend clubs within the West Kent area. We know that our services are important to both the individual using it and their families, with us supporting up to 96 families. We carefully select our activities in order to offer CYP who are often marginalised and excluded within society a chance to have fun, socialise and make new friends. Our aims, include: Families feeling supported and better able to cope in their caring role - CYP develop key communication, social and life skill - CYP feel included and experience success in their local community - Increased awareness of disability within in our local community.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We actively recruit volunteers from within our local areas to support with the running of our services. We support volunteers to gain confidence and develop skills through a structured programme. This includes promoting an acceptance and awareness of children with disabilities within our local community. We are starting to expand this work to local schools and businesses.
