About this cause

WPCC supports over 200 families who have one or more children with a disability or additional need, across Worcestershire. The WPCC’s main aim is to bring families out of isolation. Many families who have a child with a disability experience isolation. We aim to help alleviate this isolation by providing family based activity days, ensuring that families that have a child with additional needs are able to enjoy quality time together within their community, with other families. We have a special project which is designed to give 14 to 19 year olds with additional needs more freedom and independence. Young people can attend the sessions without parents needing to attend, as we have support workers at all events. We provide parent carer support, coffee mornings and information workshops.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We take our community out into the local community to give our families the opportunity to access local activities that other families take for granted. It gives families the chance to form friendships and build networks of support. It gives a chance for siblings to socialise with others in a similar situation to themselves. It helps the local community to understand some of our families needs.
