About the Project
One cannot underestimate the impact one volunteer can have on the quality of life of carers and older people in our community. A volunteer who supports two families by taking a lady out, giving that person a fresh perspective and the carer a break, and supporting a son by visiting his recently bereaved mother. Volunteering is an enormous resource the brings our communities together.
About the Charity
Ryedale Carers Support is a local voluntary organisation and registered charity. Our aim is to provide practical and emotional help for carers, the people they care for and older people living on their own. The organisation has over 140 volunteers who provide friendship to over 200 older people across the district of Ryedale. With an increasing number of elderly people being encouraged to stay in their own homes our befriending service is much in demand. One cannot underestimate the impact one volunteer can have on the quality of life of carers and older people in our community, especially the lonely and vulnerable who are often overlooked.
