We want to provide a bespoke support package to families and young people affected by bereavement, including home visits and counselling.
About this cause
Rochford Extended Services is part of Rochford District Schools Partnership Trust (RDSPT), a charitable organisation supporting children, young people, families and schools across the district of Rochford. We are an established team of Family Support Workers and an Educational Psychologist, offering a long term, holistic approach to supporting families and young people. The team have specialist skills in dealing with issues such as bereavement, homelessness, family breakdown, disability and mental health. The Trust aims to contribute to, and make tangible improvements to, the lives of children, young people, and adults across the local community and developing these communities through education and family support. RDSPT supports the most disadvantaged families in the area.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We will provide support for the transition from primary to secondary school, working with staff to ensure they are aware of circumstances, including key dates (anniversaries, birthdays etc), to reduce the likelihood of negative outcomes. Bereaved children are particularly vulnerable to being bullied and to school exclusion. Group and peer support work are also key for successful outcomes.
