Harbour Place Grimsby
Social Inclusion
We want to open a permanent night shelter for North East Lincolnshire, providing accommodation, outreach services, and ongoing support.
About this cause
Harbour Place supports the needs of the homeless, the vulnerable and the socially excluded, engaging with many who fall outside the statutory remit. We aim to meet the basic needs of everyone in a safe, non-judgemental and supportive environment, to enable clients to make positive choices by accessing support, training and work, to engage effectively with the local community, making best use of resources and building resilience, to work with 'entrenched rough sleepers' building relationships and providing outreach and night shelter services, to provide practical help eg sleeping bags, warm food, clothing, access to showers, to provide advice and advocacy services, assisting service users in contacts with health, housing, benefits , harm reduction and families.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The number of Rough Sleepers in North East Lincs has risen significantly and the impact of this increase is obvious on our streets. As an established local charity working closely with a range of partners, local businesses, Councillors, Church groups, we believe there is a real ambition across the community to address these issues and working together this project can be a catalyst for change.
