About this cause

We are building orchards on old industrial land in the Brymbo area. Currently we have two new orchards and look after four older underused orchards in the local area. One new orchard is on the old Brymbo Iron & Steel site the other is on land at a local primary school in Brynteg. We also look after three orchard in the village, one at a EMI Home Pen Y Garth and an orchard or 500 juice apple trees no longer in use. We involve the local schools in planting at the new sites and have started going around with a small manual crusher and juicer the local primary schools to show them what natural juice taste like and explain why it is good for them. The school will use the reclaimed areas as outside classrooms to learn about nature with the help of wildlife trust and the woodland trust.

How this cause brings people in the community together

All monies made from the produce of the orchard will be put back into the development of the orchards and training of the public from 5 year olds to pensioners on how to maintain the areas and understand and respect the environment we share with nature.
