Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS)
Health
We want to buy lifesaving equipment, to help our volunteers respond to critically ill patients in our local community.
About this cause
SARS helps save lives in the local community by providing specialist volunteers who respond to critically ill or injured patients who need advanced medical care before they reach hospital. SARS volunteers include anaesthetists, consultants in emergency medicine and critical care paramedics. They have skills and carry drugs and equipment which are not found on front line ambulances. This enables them to undertake advanced procedures at the scene which would not normally be possible outside of hospital. Our aim is to provide the best possible pre-hospital emergency care for critically ill/injured patients on a voluntary basis within Suffolk and the wider East of England area.
How this cause brings people in the community together
SARS responders all have full time jobs and volunteer for SARS in their spare time. They do this because they know that their skills and equipment can make a genuine difference to patients in their local area. SARS responders are mobilised from their own homes and can be on scene in minutes, this can make a crucial difference to someone suffering a cardiac arrest or injured in a road accident.
