About this cause

As a registered mental health charity operating in locations identified as areas of deprivation and social isolation (Surrey-i), we at CornerHouse understand the increasing need for direct and accessible mental health support. Our aim is to support people to improve their mental health and empower them to make positive wellbeing choices through the provision of support groups, programs and activities. A key part of this work is offering a safe space for adults aged 18+, affected by mental ill health, to meet other people, build confidence and feel understood. Our services include: • Support groups for depression and postnatal depression, anxiety, eating disorders, young people (18-25), carers • Wellbeing groups • Walking for Health walks • Mindfulness drop-ins and courses

How this cause brings people in the community together

Aside from boosting health, walking has positive benefits for the whole community too. We’ve seen how our walks bring people together, giving members a chance to feel understood, supported and accepted by others experiencing similar difficulties. Providing these resources will empower people to do this independently and generate new groups confident in using familiar, safe and comfortable routes.
