About this cause
Wirral Hospice St John’s is an adult Hospice based on the Wirral and has provided over 30 years of caring for our local community. We provide care and support for patients with cancer, heart, dementia, liver and kidney disease, respiratory and neurological conditions where curative treatment is no longer possible. This is provided by a 16 bed In-Patient Unit, Outpatient Clinics, Day Therapy and a ‘Hospice at Home’ service. The aim of Wirral Hospice St John’s is to warmly welcome people with progressive illness which has failed to respond to curative treatment, into the quiet calm of a highly professional, caring atmosphere which ‘comforts always’ both them and those who are important to them. We aim to enable patients living with advanced disease to achieve the best quality of life.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our aim is to enhance the quality of life for our patients, by maintaining their independence enabling them to socialise with others in a similar situation. They share and receive support from one another in our sessions and enjoy being together. Taking part in activities helps to distract our patients from the enormous challenges that they face on a daily basis.
