About this cause
Stripey Stork transform the lives of vulnerable families across East Surrey through the simple act of re-homing items that other families no longer need. We collect donations of new and pre-loved items for babies and children (equipment, clothes, furniture and toys) and, after ensuring they are clean and safe, re-home them via a network of healthcare professionals directly to where they are needed most. Our motto is 'Family Support. Recycled’. For every £1 it costs to run we pass on £7 of high quality items. Since October 2013 Stripey Stork has responded to over 4000 requests for help and distributed goods with a value of £1.65 million to families who, because of a range of different and complex circumstances are unable to support their children with basic necessities.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We are a local charity focussed on helping families in need in the East Surrey area. It relies heavily on volunteers who give their time and skills generously to support the organisation. Local families also donate the majority of the goods that are sorted and sent to those in need. Volunteers sort, clean and pack the donated goods ready for families who are unable to provide their children.
