We area registered SCIO Charity set up in Helensburgh, Argyll to save Helensburgh's 201 year old Pier which was damaged by fire around 20 years ago. The local council in their last document for funding for Piers & Slipways shows that the council will not be spending any money on the Pier in the next 10 years. The HSDP aim to repair the Pier, dredge the Pierhead to allow the Waverley Paddle Steamer & other craft to berth at the Pier in all tides. We have spoken to European Cruises in regards to tendering passengers from ships berthed in Greenock which will help the local economy. We'll also install a Wavebreaker / Walkway which will help with flood prevention in the West of the town, and provide the 'West Bay' which will be used for water sports / tuition for local residents & visitors.
Helensburgh has long been renowned for it's Pier and esplanade being visited by ships of all sizes, walked on/around and for all types of watersports including Olympic champions. We wish to give up to date facilities to the residents and visitors to the town as well as protecting their homes & businesses from flooding. There will be tuition for watersports for the disabled, children and adults.
