Farnworth Little Theatre
Art & Culture
Our theatre enriches lives of young and old through culture and creativity, and our refurbishment will allow us to continue this work.
About this cause
We are a local amateur theatre based on Cross Street, Farnworth. We are totally self supporting, financing the running and upkeep of the theatre through box office takings, membership fees, charitable donation and fund raising. The theatre is run by volunteers and offers many opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in a range of activities - acting, wardrobe, lighting and sound, to publicity and set building. We have a youth theatre catering for 11-18 year old's, where members can access drama lessons for little or no cost. We offer a season of 5 plays for the entertainment and education of our audiences. These range from classic literature to contemporary theatre. Our audiences are of all age ranges, and we offer reduced tickets for those on lower incomes
How this cause brings people in the community together
We have a large local audience base, who for many this is their only experience of theatre. Our members, youth members and audiences currently make use of a refreshment area that is in desperate need of refurbishment after leaks in the roof. The roof has now been repaired but we are left with the job of improving the social area of our theatre. This area is important for meetings, socialising and adding to the overall experience of our guests. We want our theatre to rival professional theatres locally, and while we feel our plays do that, our facilities are not up to these standards. If given a grant the room will be redecorated and put to a higher standard. We will be putting some money towards this ourselves
