32nd Rochdale Guides
Young People
We would like to run a week-long camping trip, including transport, accommodation and food, with adventurous activities for our guide group.
About this cause
32nd Rochdale Guides is a group of 30 girls (aged 10-14 years) and volunteer leaders who meet regularly to take part in the Girlguiding programme. We provide a safe, girl-only space for our young people to explore the activities, issues and possibilities that are available to girls today. We provide opportunity for girls and young women to: Be challenged by new experiences and achieve a sense of pride in accomplishment; Think for themselves; Undertake teamwork and acquire leadership skills; Acquire self-awareness, self-respect and self-confidence; Develop personal values which give their lives meaning and direction; Do their best according to their abilities; Seek spiritual development - whatever faith they belong to; Contribute to society.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We believe that Guiding helps girls and young women develop skills for life. A recent study found that young people who take part in Girlguiding are more resilient in adult life and can face and tackle challenges of adulthood. Supporting a project such as this helps to develop young adults who are more resilient, who can then go out into the community and use the skills they have learned.
