About this cause

We provide a volunteer-led service to help improve the lives of isolated people living in rural villages - the largest proportion living in Ashton Hayes, Kelsall, Manley, Mouldsworth and Tarvin. By sharing the skills, experiences and resources of the community, individuals can feel valued and included. We believe every member of our community has something to offer others, and that all of us will, from time to time, need help. We mainly help the elderly and vulnerable, although indirectly we are providing support for their families and carers, too. Loneliness and social isolation are widely recognised as among the most significant issues facing our ageing society. Volunteers build up trusting relationships with the people they help and friendships, not just contacts are made.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The majority of our members are vulnerable, older people living in rural villages with limited local services. By providing socialising and volunteering opportunities, we are helping to reduce isolation. Time banking gives people a sense of self-worth and belonging, thus helping to promote general health and well-being in the community. People who feel valued are generally healthier and happier.
