We want to purchase a new responder car and pay for items such as ambulance livery and blue lights.
About this cause
We are a small group of volunteers that work alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service, responding to all 999 calls in the local area. We are local so can arrive on scene before an ambulance, which is stationed 7 miles away. In the case of a cardiac arrest , time is important. The sooner that CPR is started, the greater the chance of survival. In many cases, we are able to offer help and support to patients before the arrival of the emergency services. We are trained by WMAS but all our equipment, including our uniform and car, have to be purchased by ourselves. One of our biggest costs is our Responder vehicle, where besides the purchase we have to pay for fuel, insurance and servicing.
How this cause brings people in the community together
A new vehicle with all the new equipment will enable us to continue to attend the patients within our area that need our help in an emergency. Many people are grateful, when worried, to the quick arrival of the emergency services. Sometimes the ambulance service is extremely busy and calls are prioritised. This is where our services are paramount as we stay with the patient until they arrive.
