About this cause

Sgioba Drama Uibhist is a small group whose aim is to promote and encourage the development of Gaelic drama throughout the Uists. We publicly stage Gaelic drama in locations throughout the island and also compete annually in the premier Gaelic drama competition at the Royal National Mod which is run by the Comann Gaidheallach. This helps to give our amateur actors a chance to compete on a larger stage, thereby raising their confidence and giving them more experience, plus it also promotes Gaelic and our heritage to a larger audience. We always then also stage the same show in our local area so that local people can also enjoy the performance as many of them cannot travel to the Mod since it is on the mainland.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Attending the Royal National Mod gives locals who wish to act on stage a chance to perform at drama competitions and on a larger stage thus giving them confidence and experience.
