We want a purpose built, free to use, concrete skatepark facility for the Isle of Wight.
About this cause
The Ventnor Skatepark Group provide free to use skatepark facilities. Based in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, the skatepark group volunteer to build, maintain and manage local skatepark facilities. The Ventnor Skatepark group was formed over 15 years ago by a group of Mum's who wanted to ensure their children had a safe area to skate. Since this time the group have developed into a registered charity and have continued to ensure that skateramps are available for all to use. The park is maintained by the volunteers, and used by skateboarders, BMXers, Scooter Riders and bladers, of all ages. We are currently working on upgrading the facility to a concrete park which would be the only facility of this kind for the whole of the Isle of Wight.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Skateboarders, BMXers, Scooters and bladers of all ages use the current ramps, despite their aged condition. A concrete park will be more in keeping with those on the mainland and will help all riders develop their skills and give new opportunities to practice their sports. At a time when youth provision has been drastically cut we believe it is essential to have such free to use facilities.
