About this cause

From our base in Hadleigh, Essex The Art Ministry provides regular arts and crafts sessions for an average of 100 children and adults with a variety of needs, including dementia, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, visual impairments and mental health problems. Members come from Castle Point, Rochford, Basildon and Southend. We also provide arts and crafts activities at about 10 community events each year. All of our activities allow people to socialise with others whilst boosting their self esteem and raising their self confidence by engaging in the creative process, which, in a fun environment, helps our members improve their health and well-being. We are supported by over 35 volunteers from the local community.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The class members will benefit from reduced social isolation as well as being supported in carrying out activities that they get enjoyment from. We will provide volunteering opportunities for the local community and together with our community events, such as an annual exhibition, we will make the wider community appreciate the capabilities of visually impaired people.
