Heydon Church DCC
Community Development
As we have no village hall we want to build a small extension to the church for toilets, a community room and kitchen facility.
About this cause
Our organisation is the parish church council which manages the small village church and, in the absence of a village hall or village amenity society, organises community events in and around the church, such as communal meals, lectures, village meetings.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Heydon village,13 mile south of Cambridge, has largely become a commuter village for London and Cambridge. While we do run successful large gatherings, their scope is limited by lack of a toilet and kitchen facility; small gatherings are not practicable without a comfortable smaller area. Improved usability for old and young in small and large groups should help community spirit and cohesion.
