About this cause

We are an independent, locally based charity helping families with young children who are disadvantaged or facing difficulties in their family lives, and who live in the Harborough District area of South Leicestershire. We help by providing a number of different services through two key projects - one which focuses on promoting healthy family lifestyles, and the other which supports parents experiencing mental health difficulties which are affecting their children's development. Our services include courses, group support sessions for parents to attend with their preschool children, counselling, and home-visiting support by a peer mentor volunteer who is carefully matched to families for weekly visits of 2 to 3 hours to help them in a way that will make the biggest difference to them.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Mothers with Post Natal Illness feel isolated from their community, and the course helps them to understand how they can recover, and start using community facilities again to provide themselves and their children with social contact. They can then share their experiences with others they meet in parent & toddler groups to help raise awareness and identify struggling undiagnosed mums.
