We want to continue providing freshly cooked meals by updating and renovating our kitchen and storage facilities.
About this cause
We are a small local charity who run a community centre which is used by many diverse groups from the wider community. Within the community centre we run a day care centre 3 days a week. We run a specially adapted vehicle which provides transport for those members who do not have any. We cook freshly prepared meals on the premises. Many of our members would spend all day in the same 4 walls staring at a television with only fleeting visits from a carer. Here, our members play dominoes, do quizzes, take part in age and ability appropriate keep fit, and just generally have fun. We provide respite from social isolation and also a respite for their carers who can enjoy a few hours away from their loved ones knowing they are happy and well cared for.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project will help the community as a whole by providing new and improved kitchen facilities that will be used not only by the day centre but also by the many groups who use the Community Centre. The improved facilities will make the Community Centre more attractive to groups wishing to hire our facilities thus helping to make the Community Centre more financially sustainable.
