59th Glasgow Guide Unit
Young People
Money will be used towards the costs of our watersports weekend trip in May 2018 as many of the girls would not be able to afford it.
About this cause
Girl guiding offers girls and young women the chance to be themselves, to develop and grow and become well rounded individuals with a ‘can do’ or at least ‘can try’ attitude that serves them well throughout life. Girls who are involved in groups like ours are encouraged to take a full part in our programme and make a positive impact in the communities we serve. Aside from visiting local residential homes, raising money and awareness for charities, etc, the girls use their spare time wisely and as a result are not found ‘hanging about’ the streets bored. Therefore not being perceived as a threat or nuisance to society. Girl guiding provides a safe space for girls with activities aimed at enhancing self esteem.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This will be a first experience of leading a camp for several of our leaders ensuring they have the opportunity to gain the experience and qualifications. Girlguiding require to run this aspect of our programme. We aim to continue providing ‘wow’ experiences to teenagers in our area, keeping them occupied and help prevent them becoming a nuisance in the community through boredom.
