We want to run a series of free multi-craft activity days to encourage new participants and explore creche provision for those who need it.
About this cause
A small team of volunteers provides a fully supervised, operational workshop for the local community offering various types of machinery & equipment for all aspects of wood working eg. carving, turning, picture framing, toy making; Seasonal crafts- Halloween, Xmas floristry & decorations Pyrography- decorative technique using a hot wire; Glasswork- Tiffany style, garden art mosaics, stained glass panel etc Kiln fused glass work eg. decorative panels, bowls etc -in fact we'll have a go at any craft or d-i-y project. We aim to provide stimulus & help reduce isolation particularly amongst the retired, unemployed or disabled whether long term or temporary, by providing a friendly safe environment where help is on hand, skills are shared and there's always time for a chat and a cuppa.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Provide stimulus and creativity for individuals to make useful or seasonal items for themselves or make personal gifts for family & friends. Encourage new friendships across mixed ages and abilities. Reduce isolation within the community for those with limited ability or on limited income Provide practical skills in d-i-y and recycling/up-cycling
