We want to continue to give food and support to those living in poverty in our community.
About this cause
The Whitehawk Foodbank serves the local community by giving 3 days worth of food for those living in poverty, or crisis situations. As well as food, we have advisers for debt from CAP and benefit advisers from Money Advice Plus. We expect to see more people needing the services of the food bank due to the new Universal Credit system, which rolls out in Autumn 2018 to this area. In addition, we support young women with our feminine hygiene scheme 'Monthlies' which can be accessed by all living in the area.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We are a central place where those in need of food and support can come for benefit and debt advice. The local community will be well supported especially with the new Universal Credit roll out in Autumn 2018 which may see an increased use of our services. Our hope is that users of the food bank will be supported out of the crisis situation and see long term change in their lives.
