Haydon Bridge and Haydon Parish Development Trust
Environment
We want to improve the riverside picnic area and make it more welcoming, including new picnic tables and seats.
About this cause
We support the social and economic development of Haydon Parish in Northumberland. We help all parts of our community through our: Community Access Library (including a thriving children's section); Tourist Information Point; village website; information, walks and cycling leaflets. We also support development and fund raising initiative of other community organisations. We have no paid staff, are ALL volunteers (around 40) and provide volunteering opportunities for local people who wish to put something back into their community, or learn skills such as library and administration skills. We are self-funding (apart form a small annual grant from our Parish Council) and run our own fund-raising initiatives. We change lives through improving self esteem and pride in our community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The local community sees the Riverside Picnic area as an important asset to Haydon Bridge. However, use has declined as the area has deteriorated. This initiative would benefit the local community through making the Riverside a more welcoming and usable community space and asset for local people and visitors.
