We want to provide a portable library within the Primary School for use by the Out of School Club and community schoolchildren.
About this cause
The Laurencekirk Out of School Club is a charity run by a Management Committee in the local area which offers a Breakfast Club, After School Club and Holiday Club to local schoolchildren in Laurencekirk and the surrounding area. We will soon be moving to new premises within the Laurencekirk Primary School. We are looking to establish a portable library within the school that can be used by both the school and the Out of School Club, and possibly the wider community. I am the Treasurer of the Management Committee and our objective is to offer safe, affordable out of school childcare to local children in our area so parents are able to work.
How this cause brings people in the community together
With the new extension built at the school and being used by the Out of School Club and the wider community we plan to share these facilities around the school inviting the Pensioners Lunch Club in to school to share books with the children and transport the books around the school to help develop paired and buddy reading to assist the children's reading skills in the community.
