About this cause

The Hub@Henley Community Centre provides a range of activities throughout the week, for people of all ages – from parents and toddlers, to senior citizens. There has been a community centre in place here since the 1970s, which improved many individual lives and made a significant contribution to the social cohesion of the town. In 2012, the Community Centre fell victim to local authority budget cuts and was closed. However, in response to the local outcry and lack of alternative similar facilities, the Henley in Arden War Memorial Trust re-opened the club on lease from the council. In September 2015, it became a new organisation - The Henley-in-Arden Community Centre Charitable Incorporated Organisation, dedicated to providing constructive and enjoyable community activities.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The whole town benefits from the support given to many residents. The young are given a second chance often denied them at school, the elderly friendship and support, new mums the expert advice that is frequently unavailable to families separated by many miles. Above all we build confidence in individuals empowering them to change. All of this brings benefit to the whole town.
