We are an arts organisation, using the arts to improve the lives of vulnerable people and regularly working in collaboration with voluntary organisations. Our objectives change from project to project but (for example) the current projects we are running help men residing in two local Prisons, and women from a vulnerable area of Middlesbrough use the arts to increase levels of self esteem, begin to engage, increase levels of positive mental health, meet new people, learn skills and see a different future. We use the arts in ways which are completely inclusive and led by the participants. We have worked with organisations helping children at risk of trafficking to engage, with refugees, young musicians, education establishments from Nursery to University level and every age from 0 to 90.
Guisborough is a North Yorkshire market town, mentioned in the Domesday book, with Augustinian Priory remains. In an area with a strong work ethic, Guisborough has been affected by industrial decline, including the recent closure of the Steelworks. We will attract new businesses and encourage local people to engage with the arts, culture and heritage of the town, and to have pride in it.
