We want to increase and improve support and skills available to new families by providing welcoming drop in sessions and quality classes.
About this cause
Patchwork EH32 exists to promote health and wellbeing to familes - mostly parents and their children, but including carers and grandparents - within EH32. We run 2 different weekly sessions to connect parents and children 0-5 years old to valuable and essential services such as breastfeeding supporters, health visitors, nutritionists, sling specialists - and to each other. We subsidise baby massage courses and run first aid sessions to boost parents' confidence and add essential skills to their parenting toolkit. We put on family events throughout the year to build up community and support between families in our area. Our objectives are to see all families with preschoolers in EH32 easily access health and wellbeing services, decrease isolation and boost parents' confidence in themselves.
How this cause brings people in the community together
A child's early years have been shown to be hugely significant for their life outcomes. By supporting families during these early years, providing easy access to experts and imparting parenting skills we hope to boost the confidence and connectedness of parents, combatting social isolation and leading to more connected families, who in turn are more connected and invested into their communities.
