The Basement Youth Club

We want to buy new equipment and be able to take more young people on trips and to a summer camp.
About this cause
Basement Youth Club is run by Disley Baptist Church with and for our community. Basement is the only open youth club in the village; up to 75 local teenagers in years 7 to 11 attend, currently for 5 hours weekly in term-time. Basement offers a safe environment for teenagers to socialise and develop through varied organised activities and space to “hang out” with friends. Disley PCSO attends regularly to build up relationships with teenagers in the village. Older teenagers give back to the community and develop leadership skills by volunteering as helpers. Our objectives are to support teenagers as they move on from the village primary school through secondary school encouraging positive relationships and offering a safe place to grow.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Basement continues to grow and provide a safe and exciting environment for young people. As the only open youth group in Disley we want to continue to provide this facility to encourage positive relationships and a safe place to develop. We hope to provide opportunities for older teenagers to give back to the community and develop leadership skills by volunteering as helpers.
