1st East Linton Scout Group
Young People
We want to buy equipment and help subsidise outdoor activities for local beavers, cubs, scouts and explorers such as camps and hikes.
About this cause
1st East Linton Scout Group is a registered charity and is part of the global Scouting network, providing adventure to children from the East Linton area. Ages from 6-14 are currently covered across three sections (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts), through regular meetings in the village and special weekend events. The program is provided by adult members on a voluntary basis only. The Group also works with young adults such as those following a DofE Award, to provide experience with working in the community. The overall objectives are to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Scout group has grown and now contains over 50 local children from 6-18. A significant amount of the badge and activity work involves working with parents and the wide local community on environmental and other projects. Last year we helped with the local Gala Day, assisted the Senior Citizen's Club and tidied litter in the village park.
