About this cause

The Dalesmen Singers male voice choir was formed in 1971, resulting from a meeting in the 'Duke of Wellington' pub in Danby between Joe Easley who was to become the first chairman and Colin Throup a former professional singer. Colin became the Dalesmen Singers first musical director and continued in the post for 18 years. The choir soon established itself singing at different venues in and a round the North York moors and it's reputation began to spread, performances and friendships formed in other parts of the country and abroad including Canada, Holland, France, Sweden and Spain. The choir has a great tradition of friendship and helping others, Dalesmen Concerts over the years have raised money for many different charities.

How this cause brings people in the community together

It will generate greater community interest in the choir and allow for us to move forwards in modernising and expanding the choir. This will ultimately help promote the longevity of the choir as a whole and increase community engagement.
