The Hertfordshire Charity For Deprived Children
Young People
The Charity will award small grants to children who are facing difficulties that compromise their wellbeing and self-worth.
About this cause
The Charity awards small grants to children who are facing difficulties that compromises their well-being and self-worth. It seeks to help those for whom all statutory resources have been exhausted and where all local and specialist charity has been explored. Hence help can be targeted where it is genuinely needed most. Priority is given to basic necessities such as clothing, beds and household equipment. It supports children in the community and not children in the care of social services. Lots of applications are from mothers who have suffered domestic violence and they have had to move. The new home tends to have few "furnishings". For example, there may be no floor coverings, no cooker, no washing machine and no 'fridge. Applications forms are completed by health or social care staff.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Children will have a bed to sleep on as opposed to sleeping on the floor/sofa. Children's clothes will be clean and dry. Children will be able to play on the floor without getting cold or having splinters from bare floorboards. Children will have a better relationship with school colleagues and their parent/siblings. Potentially less bullying. More likely to be considered equal by their peers.
