Men in Sheds Port Erin
Social Inclusion
Help us to equip our extension with a portable woodworking bench.
About this cause
Some men when they retire ( or lose their jobs ) find it difficult to cope or suffer from loneliness. The Shed gives them somewhere to come learn new skills, pass on skills, make new friends and generally have fun. They can either do their own projects or more recently be involved with community projects. We have recently received a grant to extend our shed but require extra finance to equip the extension. We have in mind a purpose woodworking bench which can be moved with tools etc. Estimated cost including carriage in the region of £600.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Men in Sheds do a lot of work within the local community, supporting other charities, voluntary organisations, churches and little repair jobs for older people. They are becoming well recognised as a project that is here to help as well as supporting many older men who face isolation and loneliness.
