We want to buy specialist rehabilitation equipment for our new Oak Centre to enhance the quality of life of our patients.
About this cause
Wigan and Leigh Hospice provide end of life care to people with life limiting illnesses living locally. This care is largely provided in the patient's own home by our team of specialist home nurses. We also to provide training and specialist palliative care in 8 nursing homes across the borough as well as providing care via our in-patient unit at our Hospice in Hindley. In addition to providing physical, emotional and spiritual care to the patient we also provide support and counselling to their loved ones.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Hospice has been caring for people within the Wigan borough for almost 35 years. In a single year we care for more than 1,000 patients, as well as offering support to the patient's family and loved ones. The aim of the Oak Centre is to extend our reach to support even more patients, particularly those with long-term conditions using an innovative approach based on personal goal setting.
