About this cause

St Blazey AOS started in St. Blazey in 1948 has performed in various places ever since. It is an inclusive Society having amongst its younger members some children with learning disabilities. Membership is from 8 to 80. It performs annually to large audiences from all over Cornwall and even some from Devon. Audiences are right across the spectrum from residents of local residential homes to cubs, brownie and rainbow groups, schools and families. A special night is set aside for an audience with difficulties such as autism, aspergers etc., with alterations to the production by keeping house lights on but dimmed and by cutting out any loud noises. The Society works throughout the year with preparation, rehearsals and fundraising to give pleasure and light entertainment to everyone concerned.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The Society already performs to a high standard and has won many awards over the years. The project gives light hearted entertainment to all members of the Community from the very young to the very old. Some groups such as the cubs etc. have been coming since the 1960's. It brings a feel good factor by making people laugh in the dull days after Christmas and New Year.
