About this cause

We are a lively Anglican Church; more than a building, a name or a weekend gathering, St George’s is a community of people seeking to serve the people of Modbury and the surrounding area; and where all can belong and be known. Our objectives are the rejuvenation of the church building; enhancement of the facilities available to the towns’ vibrant community; opening up of the building for use by other denominations; enabling an expansion to the wide and varied range of activities that already take place within the building; providing a greater awareness of its history, to the community, our children and visitors; and most importantly, preserving the heritage of the building for future generations to come. I, as Churchwarden and Treasurer, am part of a larger team seeking these goals.

How this cause brings people in the community together

To mark the centenary of the Armistice on 11/11/ 2018 the book and poppy on the houses would act as a visual and permanent reminder to our younger generation, the community and visitors; helping them to appreciate that the young men of the town lived ordinary lives, responded to the call of duty, and of the sacrifice they made; whilst at the same time adding to the historical records of the town.
